Effective 2 October 2026.
This page lists every cookie Kit & Ledger sets, in full. It's the technical detail behind the short summary in our Privacy Notice.
Kit & Ledger sets 4 cookies. Two are strictly necessary and always set: one keeps track of a free eligibility check you've started, and another keeps you signed in to the management area for up to 24 hours after you complete a purchase or open your access link, unless you sign out sooner. A third, also strictly necessary, simply remembers your cookie preference so we don't ask you again on every page.
The fourth — Google Analytics (GA4), used to understand how visitors use the site — is non-essential, and is only ever set if you choose “Allow analytics” in the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or later via the persistent “Cookie settings” control available at any time. Until you make a choice, and if you choose “Essential only”, analytics storage stays switched off and no Google Analytics cookie is set. We never use your analytics choice for advertising: we don't grant advertising consent to Google at all, at this stage. We don't run any other analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking scripts anywhere on this site, and we don't use browser storage (such as localStorage) for anything.
The customer testimonials on our homepage come from Senja, our testimonials provider. Left to itself, Senja's widget would store a visitor identifier in your browser and report views back to Senja. We prevent both: the testimonials are shown in an isolated frame that your browser doesn't allow to set cookies or store anything on your device, and Senja's view tracking is blocked. That's why they don't appear in the table below, and why they need no consent.
UK law only requires your consent before setting a cookie that isn't strictly necessary for a service you've asked for. Because Google Analytics is the one cookie that meets that bar, that's the one choice the banner and the “Cookie settings” control ask you about — the strictly necessary cookies below need no such choice and are never affected by it.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Necessity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
kl_fc_<COMPANY_NUMBER> | Kit & Ledger (first-party) | Remembers your free eligibility-check session for one specific company, so the answers and results you've already given aren't lost as you move between our check pages for that company. Holds only an opaque session identifier, never your answers themselves. | 7 days | Strictly necessary |
kl_mgmt_session | Kit & Ledger (first-party) | Keeps you signed in to the management area for up to 24 hours after opening your access link or completing a purchase, unless you sign out sooner. Holds only an opaque session identifier, never your email address or account data. | 24 hours | Strictly necessary |
kl_cookie_consent | Kit & Ledger (first-party) | Remembers your cookie preference ("Allow analytics" or "Essential only") so we don't ask you again on every page, and shared across kitandledger.com and guides.kitandledger.com so the choice you make on one applies to the other. Holds only your choice, never any personal data. | 365 days | Strictly necessary |
_ga / _ga_<CONTAINER_ID> | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Used by Google Analytics (GA4) to distinguish visitors and sessions for site-usage statistics, so we can see how people use the site and improve it. Only ever set if you've chosen "Allow analytics" — see the cookie banner and "Cookie settings" control. | 2 years | Non-essential |
At least one cookie above is non-essential — see Section 1 for the consent banner and “Cookie settings” control we provide for it.
You can change your Google Analytics choice at any time using the persistent “Cookie settings” control shown on every page, without losing anything else. If you switch from “Allow analytics” to “Essential only”, we delete the Google Analytics cookies already on your device at that point, rather than leaving them to expire on their own. Every cookie above is stored only in your own browser and expires on its own after the duration shown. You can also delete any of them at any time through your browser's own cookie or site-data settings; doing so for one of the strictly necessary cookies simply signs you out of whichever session it belonged to, or resets your saved cookie preference so you're asked again; nothing else is affected.
If the cookies we set ever change, we'll update this page and the table above to match, and we'll update our Privacy Notice to stay consistent with it.
For any question about the cookies we set, contact hello@kitandledger.com or use our contact form.
